Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does online therapy work?

Online therapy sessions take place via secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms - In our case, Simple Practice! You’ll log in from a private, comfortable space, and your therapist will guide you just like in an office session—without the commute.

2. What is concierge mental health therapy?

Concierge therapy offers highly personalized mental health care with direct access to your therapist, flexible scheduling (including evenings/weekends), and longer or more frequent sessions—tailored to your lifestyle and needs.

The privacy offered through concierge, or “cash pay,” services is unparalleled. You can get the exact services you need, how you need them, without insurance dictating what is “medically necessary.”

3. Why do you offer cash-pay instead of insurance?

Paying directly means your care isn’t dictated by insurance companies. It keeps your therapy fully confidential, allows us to focus on your goals rather than a diagnosis, and provides more flexibility in treatment style and frequency.

Essentially, it makes you the boss of your own health and wellness, not a corporation or agency.

4. What happens in my first session?

We’ll discuss your goals, your history, and what you’d like to achieve. You’ll also get a clear roadmap for how we’ll work together, including session frequency and methods that fit your needs.

5. How do I prepare for an online therapy session?

Make sure you have a quiet, private location with good internet, headphones if desired, and a device with a camera. Your therapist may suggest having a notebook nearby!

6. Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Yes—research consistently shows that online therapy is equally effective for most mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.

In fact, many of our clients prefer the use of online therapy! They frequently discuss the convenience of having access to therapy through their phone or portable laptop, anywhere! No commute necessary, no need to use PTO (some clients use their lunch breaks), and no waiting rooms in an office.

7. Can I schedule sessions outside of traditional hours?

Yes—concierge therapy allows for evening, early morning, or weekend appointments to fit your busy schedule. Some of our providers may even be available to talk with you, same-day!

8. How do I pay for sessions?

We accept credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and bank transfers. Payments are due at the time of service, and many clients submit their receipts for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

9. Do I need a diagnosis for therapy?

No—because we operate outside of insurance requirements, you can receive therapy without a formal diagnosis unless you request one.

Clients who want therapy, but do not qualify for a clinical diagnosis, are often denied insurance coverage for services. If you do meet the criteria for a mental health diagnosis, your symptoms will be addressed through therapy, just the same!

10. What types of therapy do you provide?

We offer evidence-based approaches such as CBT, trauma-informed care, and grief counseling, prenatal & postpartum counseling, child & adolescent therapy, along with personalized coaching and support—all adapted for online delivery.
